the turn blanked, so whatever he called the flop with, he's probably calling the turn with. which is why it would be a bad idea to fire 2 with air, but a good idea to value bet a hand like JJ.

I strongly disagree with this. Often people call the flop to see whether you'll fire again on the turn. I'd be more inclined to bet this turn with a bluff than with JJ. The problem with betting with JJ is that there's no chance you're getting three streets of value out of a worse hand, so you'll just have to check the river anyway. The only downside to checking the turn is the free card, which is more than compensated by having hands pay off the river which would have folded the turn.
