Call turn, he can be doing this with various hands you beat including a free showdown play or as a bluff, which would be a very effective one if you folded AQ- to it. Folding river to a decent sized bet is ok.
Checking flop is okay but I'd just call a bet, don't see much value in a CR. Betting flop is standard.
