Skipping school is not an option these days as jobs are hard to come by. A lot of the auditions are announced to the schools only. You should try networking, if you play poker get in there and meet the floor people and supers. Be friendly to the school owners too, they are the ones who decide who gets the auditions in some cases (more for other games than poker but it can't hurt). You are definitely getting into this a little late and you already missed the WPT/USPC hirings for September. Taj only hired 3 people this year (IRC it was 20 a couple years ago) and two of them are very good, the third is probably a relative of someone (taking a wild guess because she's Asian).

Circuit event hits Harrah's in December, that is probably the best chance of getting your foot in the door.
