Default Re: Blocking Bets

A small bet relative to the pot bet from out of position while heads up on the river in order to avoid a check/call of a larger bet from your opponent. So, instead of check/call, you bet/fold where the bet is small and villain is expected to call instead of raise with many of the better hands that he would have bet a larger amount at the river if you player hadn't bet a smaller amount first.

Do not overuse this play. If you over use this play, then opponenents will bluff raise on the river and steal your pot.

This kind of play is often used with a 1-pair hand when you suspect that the opponent might have made a better hand by the river.
