Re: Examples of why your dad is/was awesome
When I was young my mother had brain cancer, and my dad did a great job of taking care of her.. tho musta been horrific cause she never really recovered and slowly wasted away. Right before she died tho, my father (age 49) had a MASSIVE stroke that left him paralyzed and unable to speak the rest of his life, tons of brain damage, just horrific.. He had to spend the next 20 years in assisted living and nursing homes.
But through it all, he loved life, and every day would go around the homes greeting the other residents with a smile and a friendly "dee dee ma ma" (the only words he could ever speak again). At his funeral last year I gave the eulogy. So many people were inspired by how friendly and uplifting he was, in spite of the tragedies and hardships he faced.
So much more.. He was an amazing man. I miss him so...
