The reason to remove the old drivers is to avoid conflicts when you install the new card. However, most people don't do it like that. XP is a lot better at plug and play than it used to be, so those conflicts are relly minimized now. So yeah, just swap them out. However in the future if you install two very disimilar cards, then follow your normal procedure.
