Actually the more I think about it the Niner trade could go down as one of the greatest trades ever. It's a big gamble, but you never know what will happen. If the Pats have a bad year with injuries or whatnot and the Niners do half-way decent then the Niners will basically get the 28th pick for the 110th pick. That's moving up 82 spots.

The 49ers traded up with New England to get an additional pick in the first round, swapping first round draft picks in 2008 as well giving the Patriots one of their three picks in this year’s fourth round. With the 28th overall pick, the 49ers then selected Central Michigan tackle Joe Staley.

If Niners make the playoffs and the Pats do not, then the Niners get the 28th pick for the 110th. (I'm sure the trade swap is only if the Niners have a better pick.)
