There are plenty of ways for a trade to go bad, but just as many ways to stay on the right track.

I don't recall yet seeing FTP reverse a transfer yet. PS on rare occasion, AB/UB, a little more so.

A few things come to mind that might help.

First, verify that you are talking to the correct person. Use PM or post here. If you are relying solely on email or IM, you might not have the same person.

Second, google, or post/PM all screen names used; poker sites, IM, email, etc. A search might reveal some previous trading history.

Third, ask directly for references. Check with each reference given, again verifying the account names you are sending to and receiving from.

Fourth, you can email the sites involved, and ask them if you should expect any future difficulties from trading with him.
