Unless you're referring to doubling on a 9, my blackjack is a little fuzzy but that generally seems like a bad idea if I had to guess. The type of idea that a casino wouldn't object to.

it's better for you dbl on a 9 with a dealer showing 2-6...even 7 and 8 are ok.
