On hand 1 I could definitely see him raising you with a smaller flush, if he figured that you were betting something like an overpair or a set the whole way, and didn't put you on the flush draw, so I would call. If he has the Ace, then oh well.
Hand 2
I'm probably calling as well. The only hands you have to worry about are A5, 44, and 55.
