I play them pretty frequently, and I have a ~100% ROI at the 3.25, 5.50, and 6.50 level. I don't think that's standard, and the sample size is definately small enough to be just a good heater.
As for strategies? Biggest thing I'd reccomend is not to take risks EP with a short stack at the final table because bubbling means more in these smaller fields.
