I believe this is huge factor in the less aesthetic brand of basketball prevalent today, not only in the NBA but college and high school as well. There is always talk about how players are less fundamentally sound than in the "old days" and I think the three point line contributed more to this than the reasons usually discussed, and offenses geared to take advantage of the three are often less aethetically pleasing as well.
