Supposedly, Torre is discussing, among other things, personnel moves with the Dodgers. The Dodgers already have the best catcher in the league, so I can't imagine they'd want to replace him with A 37-year old veteran. And they also have a closer who was more effective than Rivera last year and is younger. The newspapers here are rife with A-Rod talk but I think the scuttlebutt about how close Torre and A-Rod are is not accurate.
I suppose one could imagine a scenario whereby the Dodgers trade Martin and Loney for Miguel Cabrera, and then sign Posada, and then get A-Rod to play first base, but that's a helluva parlay.
