And then finally, I think Chris actually is an extremely good player. I’ve played cash games with him on several occasions and I can’t recall ever seeing him play a big pot when we’ve played these live cash games of No Limit Hold ‘Em where he played a big pot and he had gotten his money in with the worst hand. So he’s obviously doing something right if he’s always getting in with the best hand.

Greg,

Do you really believe that you are playing optimally if you always get your money in good? Or was this statement:

a) playing to an uninformed audience
b) misqoted
c) a political way of saying that moneymaker is a nit/luckbox
d) other?

[/ QUOTE ]

It was a spoken quote, and unsurprisingly, not inclusive of every term and condition. By that I mean, while the statement isn't 100% true as stated, it carries the "gist" of what I wanted to convey.

And the important thing is that I said he always got his money in good in the big pots. While even there you might be playing closer to optimal if you sometimes play a big pot without having the best hand, it is obvious that you should have the best hand the large majority of the time you're in a big pot. By the way, this statement is less correct for online poker than it is for live, due to the absence of tells.

Thanks, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)
