Default Re: Stud8 - How to play a straight in this tricky spot?

Third's a call. Fourth is at least a call. Fifth is probably worth a raise. Tough to know what J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] is betting, but it probably isn't a flush. Presumably, he wouldn't raise third with a three-flush that has no low cards. Betting into five people on fourth with a four-flush and four hearts out would be insane. Your straight is very likely good for high, and with A45 just calling, maybe it's good for low too. You don't want a whole lot of company with a hand like this, though. Get your money in there.

I think a raise is in order on sixth. The guy behind you might well have four hearts, and while they're pretty dead, you don't want him to get one too cheap. If nothing else, you get more money in with the likely best hand. On the river, I think going for the over-call is probably best.
