Default Re: PokerFink\'s 2007 NFC Rankings (Preseason)

Cowboys I think Romo is mediocre and I'm not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until I see otherwise. But you (and others) are, so as long as it comes with the Romo caveat I'm fine with this ranking.

I was with you, but he has looked pretty good in the preseason and has shown that he could be mediocre. He needs to be real good if they want to make the Super Bowl, but I think playing most of the NFC will only require him to be mediocre. Can he can pull that off?..that's the question.

Tampa Bay How are they going to fill the holes? It's the same personnel as last year, except everyone is even older. Gaines will help, but probably won't replace Rice full time until next year. Their defense was 22nd last year and I see it getting worse before it gets better.

My eyes popped out of my head when I saw their win projection of 9.0 in the prospectus. Originally I considered moving them higher because of it, but decided that I flat disagreed with the book and kept them near the bottom. Many of the authors, apparently, agree with me and don't like their projection either.

I like Cato June and Derrick Brooks alternating strong and weak sides. Their safeties scare me which is why I won't fully commit. Also Gaines Adams has to prove he is as good as advertised. Kiffin is a good coach and I give him some credit to scheme his way through some games. Last year their defense was left out in the cold too often with three and outs and an offense that was really inept. This defense will no longer dominate, but with a quality offense they may improve on last year.

I'm suprised nobody jumped on my Saints pick. Maybe I should have put them lower.
