Default Re: FREE THAC

I will not support your cause because the following is horrible thought and paragraph structure:

I'm told that thac was banned for 4 days for using the word "skull [censored]" as one word, which the profanity filter did not pick up.

I think this is a really [censored] reason to ban someone.

If the admins come across a post that was obviously not intended to circumvent the profanity filter but was simply not picked up by the profanity filter, this is not the fault of posters. I personally type inline profanity into my posts because I'd feel like a pretty [censored] huge gaywad if I were to intentionally type [censored] every time I wanted to use a swear word in my post; and really, this works best for 2+2 as a whole, because posters can express themselves as they see fit and if certain words they choose to use are deemed offensive by the admins/moderators/Chuck Weinstock/whoever, then those words are automagically taken care of and everyone's happy. The word "skull [censored]" showing up in thac's post should not be "FOUR DAY BAN FOR INTENTIONALLY USING PROFANITY"; I mean, if he didn't intentionally leave out some critical letters in an attempt to fool the profanity filter, how can you say he's trying to circumvent it? If anything, it should be a pat on the back from the admins saying "we missed this in the filter, thanks"; you guys update the filter, edit his post since how was he supposed to know the filter was gonna miss an obvious swear word, and we all get on with our merry lives.

Profanity filter aside, that only leaves "rude comments" as a reason for his banning, which is just lol for anyone who's ever read BBV.

This ban is ridiculous on its merits and even more so when considering it happened to a valuable poster in the SSNL community. I ask that it please be undone, and that the maintainers of the profanity filter put some more effort into their work. What's the point of the filter if you're still going to force people to police their own posts when they aren't even actively trying to circumvent it?
