Villain was running about 17/6. I hadn't noticed anything exceptionally good or bad about him.
I was experimenting with (what I thought were) crazily large preflop raises with preimum pocket pairs today. I was astonished by the number of times and by what I got called. This was one of the larger raises, and I feel like I butchered it, but I'm not exactly sure in what way.
My thinking (if that's not too generous a term!) was that KK or AA are reraising preflop, and I didn't think it likely he'd have called with 44, 55 or 88. So I put him most likely on JJ, maybe 10 10 or QQ. That was also the reason I just called his minraise on the flop; I wasn't sure he'd call with 10s or Js so I was hoping to give him the confidence to push on the turn. (Faulty thinking with hindsight...even if he does have JJ or 10 10 he's surely committed to call if I 3-bet shove the flop, isn't he?)
