Hand 1 is an easy fold. If you limp, you're asking the button to shove anything on any flop.

I dunno about hand 2. After you have <1bb, it's hard to make a mistake. Winning the hand gives you a lock for 2nd. If you fold you still have 2 hands to hopefully let the BB shorty go broke...
