The river raise is maybe a very thin one or even a -Ev one.
To say that it doesn´t make sense is however wrong.
So many players thinks WTF and calls one more bet in this pot with a pair.
Your hand example doesn´t apply at all here.It is threehanded at the river and villain has to threebet against two opponents that shown strength at all streets and think that he can fold out both.
As said earlier I would go for the overcall at the table because I can´t fold to a 3-bet because I haven´t got the stomach.
However I´m totally convinced that we are beat if we are 3-bet and that a raise has it´s merits if we don´t call a 3-bet.
