Intro pysch at my school is one of the hardest classes (wrt grades, not content) I've taken. It had a brutal curve, and the only way to do better than the other students in the class was study more, as it was just a bunch of memorization about which each old psychologist discovered.
I would avoid 101 intro classes if you can. Try to find a mid level class with few prereqs. At least at my school, the intro classes are normally curved the worst, with the intention of "weeding people out" of a given major (this obv doesn't always hold, and depends on the department).
