Default crystal park mini trip report - better than it used to be

I went to the CP the other day for their 7pm tourny, $40+10 + another $10 if you want the extra 500 chips, making u 2500 or 3000 i think. Supposedly CP is now run by the people that run the Bike, but it is owned by the guy who owned it before, the same guy who owns HP.

tournament structure was ok, blinds started at 25/25, doubling every 15 mins, until 100-200 when they had a 25 ante. i got busted after that. players were soso.

then to the better part about the new CP, actual games going. had been there 2-3 years ago at like 2am and nothing was going, but this time they had 3/6 stud, 3/6 LHE, 100-300$ 2/3 NLHE, and 1/2 40-100$ NLHE. I played the 1/2, and after just one hour u get a free meal. had the steak, it was soso, tasted like something from a crappy casino cafe. The action was allright too, but sometimes the games got a little short, even though tables were always going.

The floor seem reluctant to break up a table and make a player or two wait, instead many times optiing to have shorthanded games with 1-2 props in them. THe good part is the rake is $3+1 instead of $4+1 like everywere else, and the comps are more generous. Rake drops to $2+1 with 6 players... but it seems they always try to fill it up with props to get it to 7 players, when I rather play short w/out props and have less rake. Overall, it was worth the drive to check the place out, even though i lost 75$ on my trip, ill definately be back again, expecially with the cheap and free room specials.
