I agree that those shows have it easier. There aren't many shows that you can compare SNL to (at least not many that I've watched). I think SNL is one of those things that's either going to be really good or really really bad.

I was very underwhelmed by all 4 seasons of Mr. Show my first time through. But it gets better and better and better every time I watch it. The show is a lot like Anchorman in that way. Listening to the commentaries on all the shows really helped me appreciate the show as well.

I recommend watching it, putting it away for awhile, and then coming back to it and rewatching it.
