1. As of today I would play Super Mario 1 or 2 before 3.
2. I would play any Zelda game or Ultima before playing any Mario game.

Definitely agree on Zelda over Mario. And I would still play Tecmo Bowl with friends today. I played RBI Baseball with my roommates a ton back in college.
Sports games rule for having fun with friends, which is the only time I play NES anymore.
