I did not imply that it was all his fault. His fault was what he did when he was president. Add that to Watergate, what his henchman Kissinger did [Christopher Hitchens' The Trial of Henry Kissinger is a good place to start] and Nixon's contribution to McCarthyism, and you have the American who did the most damage to our country in the 20th century.
In Vietnam, Nixon got the same deal after five years of murder that he could have had when he got into office. This was after he subverted the peace talks while running for president. He should have been tried as an international war criminal for the former, for treason for the latter. His justification? "If the president does it, it's legal."
