DOSBox. I don't have a lot of experience with this, but it is intended primarily to run DOS games. Another option would be to scrounge an old PC somewhere and install DOS or freeDOS on it.

yeah, i didn't want to have to scrounge up an old computer - I have an older computer that will play these games I think, but don't have the room for it really.
The strange thing is I was able to run DOS-based games a few months ago - I don't know what changed.
