I think it has something to do with costs. It's somehow more economical to buy from someone who has too much oil and wants to sell it cheap than it is to use our own resources. But, that's just market talk. The US kills people for oil and it must be stopped!

I don't think it has to do with costs. I think that the US has a lot of influence on oil prices, not total control, though. I think it is a matter of strategy. The US would like to have some oil when there is little left. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I may be wrong and stand to be corrected if the US oil is more expensive (to get out of the ground) than middle eastern's. OTOH the US may have less plentiful reserves for what it is worth.
