Default Re: Flopped boat OOP against LAG ($5/5)

[ QUOTE ]
he possibly thinks I'm on a steal and would shove some good 9s.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why the heck would he shove here unless he has AA A9 or total air.

Also, in most cases you just cant play very profitably OOP unless you have very solid reads on your opponent(s). Like OP replied to someone that either playing draws very aggressively and/or check/calling nfd is somehow very profitable I just have to disagree. You're just assuming too much saying that if you flop this and that you do this and if your opponent does this you do that and every decision is magically +EV for you.
It comes down to the fact that the dude with position does have advantage every single time.

Of course you *can* fold preflop you aren't losing anything there but I sure as hell wouldn't and saying that someone *should* fold this hand preflop is just, well, wrong.

As for the hand raising the flop(minraise/3x raise) and giving your opponent the chance to bluff off chips seems the best way to win something. Check-calling wont put any money in the pot and checking again on the turn would be terrible. If you have any history raise the amount you think he will most likely go apeshit on you and if you don't try min/3x. Minraise is likely better for the reasons gordo stated above. (its cheaper for him to call your "bluff" with weaker hands than 9xxx and he will draw to a boat with a 9 most of the time)
Pot-raising is way too strong and your opponent will prolly think 3betting is too expensive and even if his spidersense is tingling and he would want to 3bet he simply wont.
