As of now I can get a plane ticket from Grand Forks, ND to HK for $1200 after all taxes and fees. Say I wait until I have received my passport for sure, how much will the price increase? United offers service from Fargo, which is 80 miles south of Grand Forks.

Fargo to Hong Kong requires only one plane change on United at Chicago O'Hare and you will get to HKIA by 5pm, with plenty of time to spare before the 10pm ferry.

$1098.20 if booked at united.com.

You do have to depart Fargo very early, i.e. 6am departure.

Thanks for the information! I had been looking and I don't know how I completely forgot about Fargo, I was worried about what I was going to do after reading about the ferry service after 10pm.

P.S. I see that the plane on the return flight leaves Hong Kong at 11:40am, will I be able to catch a ferry early enough to arrive at HK to go through inspection and board the plane?
