I don't think you actually know a whole lot about how most fighting dogs are treated when they're not fighting (hint: they're not tortured all day). Also, why wouldn't it be a consolation to get put out to stud? I know if I was a dog which life I'd pick, and it wouldn't be the one where I had my ass stapled shut and was then put to sleep in front of a group of investors.
