Depending on where you play and your skill level, you'd have to run extremely bad to go through 10 max buyins at 1/2 live.
The rake plays a big factor in your decision, if there is a time rake, ratholing is a horrible idea.
I also don't like ratholing live because of the time investment. Your win rate per hour is likely to be very low.
