He played it exactly like the textbook.

Read chapter "Counters to the free showdown play: The Turn three-bet semi-bluff", p. 185-187, in Stoxtraders: Winning in tough holdem games.

Basically, he is hoping u are doing a free showdown raise on turn with a not so good pair and will fold when he 3bets. When u call and he doesnt hit 1 of his 15 outs, he is hoping u are on a draw and are capable of folding a better hand then his K high.

What upsets u, I think, is what makes this move ok to do sometimes. U are pretty sure ur turn and rivercalls are crycalls, but u are way ahead and it makes it very hard to know how to play this guy in the future as long as u normally respect him.

There are a ton of good, not very obvious stuff in Stoxtraders book that should be discussed.
