It's all about the banking industry, if it really hates the existing law and puts even a little of its massive lobbying power on the side of this bill then it'll probably pass though unless it's rolled up in some other larger more important bill I wouldn't be surprised to see a veto from the jesus freak in chief. If it's just the PPA, then forget it we can fight the good fight but it won't matter much. Look for signs of republican votes on the appropriate committees in the early stages of the process, that will likely indicate whether the banks are putting some weight behind it. By all means send off form letters and emails but in terms of people making any serious decisions based on whether this has a chance of passing, where the banking industry stands is the critical factor.
