Default Re: Things to say that induce folding.

My two cents:

Completely situation dependent. For example:

Let's say you yell out "You call, it's gonna be all over, baby!"

Depending on what level your opponent is thinking on, his previous play, your table image, his tiltiness, stack sizes, etc., he may raise, or he may fold.

I think you need to figure out what level your opponent is operating on: Weak = Strong or is it Strong = Weak? This makes a huge difference in what you say to induce a fold. I’m sure that you can see how if you make the wrong choice, you’re screwing yourself and likely to induce a raise instead of a fold.

I hope that I’m wrong and over analyzing. Maybe there is some magic phrase that will ensure (or at least greatly increase the odds of) a fold. If there is, I’d like to know.

Edit:

Unless i'm 80% sure that saying something will induce a desired behavior, I keep my mouth shut.

That being said, I have found that one tactic that works fairly decently (against mediocre players) is eating or drinking after you make your bet. grab your food (if there's food service) or drink and act as uninterested as possible. Certainly not a sure thing, but against some opponents, it's helpful.

I prefer this type of tactic to talking.
