I don't know if the problem is Jack Effel, Jeffrey Pollack, or Harrah's/Rio, or the whole lot of them. And I don't care.
The WSOP this year has had major problems, and I'm fairly certain that management (including Mr. Effel and Mr. Pollack) know about them.
But do they care about fixing them? Given that we are flocking to the tournaments like sheep being led to the slaughter, why should they?
Harrah's is a bottom-line oriented company. The LBO they're going through will only increase that emphasis.
I wrote a
humorous blog post giving my views of a hypothetical interview between Jeffrey Pollack and
The Onion. Nothing I've read in this thread or the
Bart Hanson/Another Effel Error Thread has made me change my views.
