Default Re: The Worst Strategy You\'ve Overheard at a Table

(3/6) Splash the pot promotion at a Tunica casino. Every few hours the house puts $50 in the pot before any hands are dealt. As the dealer is dealing the ten seat asks if he's ever seen anyone fold preflop during this promotion. Dealer responds just once. UTG promptly folds. Everyone else at the table gives him crazed looks. After the hand is over I ask UTG why he folded. "I didn't have a good hand".

This is easily the least dumb thing in this thread. You would need a computer to really figure out what stakes you have to be playing to call with any 2 preflop for 50 extra bucks.

I think it's a clear call with any two at this stake. You're getting 100 to 6 on your call and then (especially at your typical calling-station-filled 3/6 table) there are meaningful implied odds on top of that. Meanwhile, even 27o makes the best hand at showdown on a 10-handed table over 5% of the time.
