*Went to the gift shop to buy a friend a few decks of cards. Didn't realize they don't sell any decks used on the floor. Does anyone know why not??? I bought a few at the trop for like a buck that they use on their black jack tables.

do you mean Borgata BJ or poker decks? while paper BJ decks available to the public varies by casino (and whatever stock is on hand that particular day), plastic poker decks are rarely available to take home. not only would they would be pretty expensive because of the higher production cost, there's definitely some long-term security issues even if they drill holes in the cards and mark the sides (which would make them equally useless for a legit home game as well, presumably). also, the casino probably recycles the same plastic decks every shift or setup change (after cleaning and re-sequencing) so the ones that they throw out are already marked or damaged badly. therefore the actual number of sets they could actually release out of the room could be as few as 10-20 per week, if not less. and then how would they fairly distribute them to customers? better to just not offer them in the first place.

used Borgata BJ decks do tend to be popular though. I usually see them offered for slight premium prices on ebay and casino souvenir specialty shops vs. other hotels, and sometimes you can't find any for sale at all. useless trivia - the first-generation Borg decks are made by Bee/USPC, and are much better quality than the Paulson decks currently in use today.
