1/2 NL plays basically the same in any room on the strip, so why bother going all the way downtown? The main difference among strip rooms is maximum buy-in, which varies from $100 to $500 (most commonly $200-$300).
My personal recommendation is the Venetian, next door to Harrah's. This is the plushest room on the strip and has outstanding drink service. IIRC, the 1/2 buy-in is $300.
