Re: Chopping Blinds - Time rakes?
[ QUOTE ]
Is chopping at higher limits with time rakes customary? and why?
[/ QUOTE ]
When time was collected in the smaller top section games in LA (e.g., 10/20, 15/30, 20/50) blind on blind play wasn't that common. Since it was an aberration most would chop to get on to the next "real" i.e., multi-way hand. OTOH, it was (and still is) also common to not chop if the game was five-handed or less.
Even though a player may have had an advantage in one on one play against his typical opponents many of these players tended to chop for game karma reasons. In these games about 40 to 50% of the field voluntarily enters the pot so you really aren't giving up much by chopping.
