I walked into HMV today and listened to an album by Amy Winehouse on recommendation. She's got a super sexy English soul sound that I highly recommend.
I got a big lol when I saw the title of her album though... 'Back to Black'. Look at this girl...
She looks like a Jewish princess from North Toronto...not sure who came up with that title, lol.
On a similar note, she started a white rap group when she was 10 she referred to as "the little white Jewish Salt 'n' Pepa". And she lists her influences as "Nas, Mos Def, Teena Marie, Beastie Boys, Carole King, Mahalia Jackson, The Ronettes, The Shirelles, Sarah Vaughan, Minnie Ripperton, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, The Specials, Toots and the Maytals and Thelonious Monk." She may or may not have had a love affair with Nas. Awesome.
