Default (OT) 1st OT post - Friday Night Trip Report

I have very aggressive SNG goals over the next 6 weeks (for a couple of very legitimate reasons), which pretty much handcuff me to the computer virtually all the time I am not either at work or asleep.

I had “scheduled” myself to play five sets tonight after I got home from my real job. Fortunately, I was able to escape a couple of hours early, and subsequently began playing SNGs a couple of hours early (currently 4 tabling regulars). With the exception of a very disappointing result in a WSOP Step 3, I played well in the first two sets and the results thankfully mirrored the play. Towards the end of the second set, my sister-in-law called trying to convince my wife and I to head to Caesar’s Indiana with her and a mutual friend. My wife explains to her sister that she (to reiterate, I was “scheduled” to play SNGs all night) is taking our daughter to the local park for the community fireworks display this evening (YES, I know it was the 7th, but they did them tonight for some reason) and we would be unable to go with them to the boat.

My wife and 6 yr old daughter kissed me goodbye as my second set was almost over. They were in the van about ready to head to the lake, when I ran out and offered my wife a proposal . . . why not let ME take my daughter to the fireworks, and then she would be able to go to Caesar’s with her sister and lose some money in the slot machines. She called her sister and the change in plans was consummated (so to speak).

For the next two hours, my daughter bossed me around like I was her little playmate. “Daddy, follow me.” “Daddy, go down this slide.” “Daddy, climb on this rope.” We played on the playground, frolicked in the sandbox (ok . . . it really was a volleyball court, but to a 6 yr old girl, it IS a giant sandbox!) and we watched a fairly decent fireworks display.

My wife will most likely lose to the slot machines tonight, but even if she wins big I would argue I had a more rewarding night!
