Default Re: Brag: Going to London....?

Huge brag. Have you been to London before, or anywhere else in Britain? There's really nowhere on earth nicer than the pastoral English countryside. It doesn't usually get the same love that rural southern France gets, but it should. I'm only familliar with Suffolk but a native Brit could recommend many small towns and villages to see.

No one should spend time in England without seeing Oxford and Cambridge. They are the most charming, inspiring towns you'll ever find. It's only a two hour bus ride to either, plan on spending a weekend in each.

England has an incredibly rich sporting culture, more passionate even than in the USA. London alone has 12 professional soccer teams. If Queen Mary University is in the East End, West Ham will probably be the closest. Go to as many games as possible, they are a half-decent team with a strong tradition and very devoted fans. After spending 90 minutes watching a game from the terraces, drunk as hell and singing at the top of your voice with 40,000 grown men, you'll never look at a boring baseball game the same.
