Don't forget that they had no TE either. Actually, worse than that, their TE's dropped passes like they were Atlanta WR's. I distinctly remember (well, not SO distinctly, because I can't remember who the opponent was) TE's dropping 2 TD passes in one game last year. That was not a fluke, either.

For the last several years, the Packers have had little offense besides Favre. Driver is great, but he's just one WR, and he's not a big target (thus hurting red zone TD opportunities). Green was a very good RB, but the last few years, he was gimpy. Franks fell off the face of the earth a few years ago. The O-line was good until Rivera and Wahle left. On top of all that, the defense has stunk for a while now. When Favre has little in the way of offensive help around him and a defense that makes him come from behind all the time, it's no wonder his numbers have been less than wonderful.

Things began to improve on defense towards the end of the 2006 season, but they didn't play offensive powerhouses. It looked like the young O-line was gelling, but Driver was still the only reliable receiving target with Jennings limping around. A couple young WR's started to show some promise, but none looked to have truly great potential.

The biggest problems for the Packers this year will be the lack of a running back (Morency and two rookies), complete lack of play making TE's, and a horrible, horrible pair of safeties. Favre will battle as always, but when he's going to be playing from behind a lot again and have to pass 40-50 times a game, it's going to be tough for him to put up good numbers.

Personally, I think he has every right to be upset with management. He has never said anything extremely scathing. All he wants to do is win, and win in Green Bay. He has given almost two decades to the organization and knows more about what the team needs to succeed than most do. The GM had a curious draft and added absolutely zero through free agency/trades. The team really isn't any better than it was last year, except for experience.

Frankly, I think fans and media have made too big of a deal over this whole Favre thing.
