Default Re: CA full drop - no pot

Is the flat drop in CA cardrooms to make things simple, or to make more money? I believe where I've played in AC that it's a % of the total pot; for instance when the pot reaches $30, they take the full $4 rake (just an example, not going to look it up). This makes so much more sense to the PLAYERS, but I can understand why the cardroom would not be anxious to run the rake collection like that. Between the mistakes the dealers would inevitably make (we're all human), and the lost profits from not gouging the players, the house has little incentive to implement a more friendly scheme. It's unfortunate from a thinking persons' perspective that so many players will show up to the table in droves no matter what the rake collection is like. I played 1-2 in a casino in St Martinn where I think the rake was capped at like $10 or $15; fortunately it was % based (the game was still profitable over the short run; yay for uber-rich, yacht-owning yuppies "learning" how to play poker at your table ).
