Actually, Palo Alto is still in Santa Clara County, though at the northernmost portion of it. Definitely a nice area. Really depends on where OP's business will be. "Santa Clara County" is pretty big (40 minutes from the southernmost portion of San Jose to Palo Alto), so a little more info may be necessary.

Defintely recommend spending a weekend out here to look for a place.
