iirc, the ceramic chip mftrs specifically say that you CAN'T line up the edge spots with the ones on the chip faces. Something to do with the manufacturing process.
This is one reason why I won't go ceramic when/if I ever do a big-time customized set of chips.... after I hit the lottery.

I looked around a little, and it looks like some places do offer aligned edge stripes.
Here is an example. It looks like having aligned edge stripes adds about $.15 cost per chip.

That is SO much better, it would be worth the expense... if you could even get me to buy ceramic chips, that is. I'm surprised that it costs $150 to do this, but whatever.
