Yeah, I don't really think this is how it works. There's no reason to think following one painting makes the next more likely. How many paintings have we seen not come true? There was the painting of NYC blowing-up, right? And the two of Sylar/Nathan as president. (Although those might happen later.)

yea but sylar also didn't have all of the knowledge that we have plus we saw how long it took for Issac to understand his power and he had it for much longer than sylar did. If he saw a sequence of events leading to him becoming president he would probably think every little thing had to happen as he saw it. Also in the dark future when Sylar is president Hiro had stabbed Sylar.
