Default Re: Stars $11r Hand: QQ UTG vs. BB

[ QUOTE ]

so are you calling his push on the turn? b/c thats what my play is as the villian here. pot size is ~9k and effective stacks are ~10k. any bet and call on the turn means you are pot committed, so why not just jam it in on the flop?

[/ QUOTE ]

Think about the fundamental theorem of poker, what mistakes do you let your opponent make by pushing the flop that you don't let him make by calling down? Think about specific hands in his range and decide what action is better.
If your opponent has 88 will calling the flop and let him continue to hang himself be better? Yes.
If your opponent has A6 will calling be better? Yes.
If your opponent has JT WCBB? Yes.
If your opponent has KJ does it matter what you do? No.

Not every decision is raise or fold, calling and letting people overplay their hands is often the best option since when you push you often won't get action from any hand but those that have you beat. Obviously its important to not get carried away with this, but this hand you are so incrediby way ahead/way behind that anything but calling down would be pretty bad.
