Gonzo reporting doesn't really work when the thing you're supposed to be writing about is yourself :P
I think a lot of people feel this way, particularly I can see where Bond is coming from in his worry that he'll actually come out of Vegas as a worse player in some respects. I also agree that a few days off before the ME is a very good idea.
