Not to be too nitty (that is to say, just for the sake of being a supernit), but since the Earth is a sphere, nearly every object traveling in the same direction as the object in question (toward the center of the earth) at 100m/s is going to be moving relative to the original object.
Damn. Making statements that people can't nit into oblivion is tough. I'm so glad I was never so masochistic as to become a middle school teacher.
